ID please... blooming shrub

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

We found this plant at Marshall Grain yesterday, took a picture, read the tag (name only) and FORGOT what the name was.

This is a 1 gal pot, tiny leaves, little pearls of buds with what looks like will be pink flowers... really want to know what it could be!

I think that it is dwarf barbados cherry.

you know... that sounds familiar!

Yes, Barbados Cherry, native to south Texas, not hardy here as far as i know. I love that plant.
Dennis, do you keep yours potted or in the ground? I have one potted and don't want to chance it.

I also keep my in a pot and move it into my south facing porch during the winter. It does sound more fun further south, where it flowers for a very long period rather than just during the fall.

Thank you Dennis, I will keep mine potted too,it sure is a neat plant.

I have several in the ground, have been for years. You are only a half zone away, I think I would take a chance.

When I have more than one I might, but I just can't do it with just one.

Josephine, put it in the ground in spring. It roots extremely easily - put one of the branches down in the soil, with a rock on top. You will have another one real soon!

I may try that in the spring, and try to get cuttings rooted too.
Do you have yours in sun or semi shade?

New Waverly, TX(Zone 8b)

Mine is in dappled shade.

Hmmmm... I just may have to plant mine, too! I'm glad to know that it can take some shade.

dappled sun, dappled shade... anyone care to explain the definition? makes me giggle...
