This geranium (Wilhelm Languth) has been giving almost double blooms all summer.
It has green leaves touched with white.
Definitely a keeper. The grower obviously does not use dwarfing chemicals as it has grown taller over the summer.

Growing sideways is because I "rotate to right" and "save" but when I post they go back to sideways? Played with that a long time and haven't figured it out.
Any ideas?
This plant was from the Zoo bus tour of garden centers -----the garden center near Bowden.
I want to go back there next spring, now that I know they do not use dwarfing chemicals.

This is one of the "Black Velvet" series that I grew from seed this year [Violist (Theresa) got me interested in these for the dark foliage]. I'm going to take some cuttings this year and see how they do.

The "Black Velvet" series is beautiful. What flower colours do they offer?
Richter's Herbs had seeds for these one year and I started them, but don't remember
how they flowered.

My favorite is the Mrs Polack, the foliage is tri colored and the flower is a glowing orange which pops against the cream green and burgundy leaves.
I am hunting for a good photo to show you. I too take cuttings and have mine started just in time before the -7 for tonight.

I have that geranium and did not know what it is Ann. I LOVE it too. I have about twenty types now and am taking cuttings of all of them. I have spent a lot of hours on the Holt site too CL. There are some fabulous types there and great articles. I started a new batch of black leaf ones this year which I will over winter, but I will likely start some from seed again too.

I am saving some geraniums and cuttings.
Also trying to root cuttings of begonias---since tubers are frozen in pots.
Have a dark leaved begonia with white flowers which I am trying to root from cuttings.

I have been saving her for 3 winters and this would have been the 4th but I missed it.
I hope my cuttings make it I only took 8 and that was just before a killing frost.
Let me know of your begonia cuttings make it. I was able to save 6 of my begonia corms and am now drying them to see if they will be good to keep. It would have been nice to take cuttings instead.

Ann, do you cut your geraniums down leaving but a few inches? I've 2 or 3 ready to come inside this weekend, think I'll over winter them

I have tried a couple of ways: Cut them back and put in a cold(not quite freezing) place for the winter and bring to warmth as spring approaches. Take cuttings and keep them in a cooler light place till spring. Bring plant in keep by window and keep cool. Bare root them , cut them back a bit, leave in a dark cool place. In every instance they need to be kept fairly dry while they are dormant. If they get leggy you may have them too warm

Geraniums are fairly forgiving of any treatment.
I cut them back, keep the cuttings, and place the potted geranium in north windows which are coolest part of this house. If they get too lanky , then I cut them back again.
They often flower over the winter which is a pleasant surprise when winter is too long.
Oops. I forgot to take cuttings of my Black Velvet ones. Guess I'll just start them from seed again.
