Starting over again...

Irving, TX

Last September my father became gravely ill and was in hospice care until he passed away on October 1. During that time we were out of town spending the last few days with him. Since I was not home my begonia collection did not get watered and I lost all of them. So this month I decided to start over. I ordered the beefsteak begona from a source on E-bay. I got a tuberous begonia from a local shop and I got a Hericlefolia from Home Depot. The first begonia I started with on my collection was Lucerna. I had scoured the internet hoping to find one and checked every place locally to no avial. I was out and about yesterday and decided to try one more nursery. WHen I visit this particular nursery I always go out back and walk through their greenhouses. Way back in the back in a dark corner was the largest Lucerna begonia I have ever seen. Man was I excited. I left the green house and went up to the front counter and begged for a cutting. To my joy she said they had some hanging baskets of that begonia that she could sell me. We tramped back out to one of the green houses and hiding behind a bunch of other plants was several of the most beautiful baskets I have ever seen. Needless to say I was overjoyed and snapped one right up. It just made my day.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad and your begonias.

Begonias and other plants can always be replaced but you can't replace your loved ones.
