Just how do you tell the difference?
I know the shots are blurry but you can clearly see the patterns. The side profile shows the red crest and the back the white but which woodpecker is it?
CLOSED: Woodpecker - Hairy or Downy
Downy.
Look at the side of the tail, you can just see a small black spot in the white edge. Hairy has a pure white side to the tail, Downy has black spots.
Also useful: bill obviously shorter than the rest of the head = Downy; bill same length as rest of head = Hairy. Yours, the bill is shorter.

Thank you again for your help. So look for the spots - and/or the bill.
And your Downy is a male, females lack the red spot on the head.
