The yellow and green fruits are really big.

Any idea what happene d to the purple? Nevr seen anythign liek it before.

I aske d what thy had grown near them and they had some banna peppers on one side and the other side was all these small round melons which they calle da Korean watermelon. They looke d abotu the size of a small basketball. They have a deep dark green skin, but surely ther e no wway that an eggplant cna cross pollinate with a watermelon is there?

It tripping me out. They aske dme if it was edible and I have no idea. But the curiosity in me is wonderign what the seed woudl produce if I knew what happene d to the purple color and shape of the eggplant it shoudl have been.

I have seen her e and there wher e you may get an odd plant from hybridizing , but usually that one out of a million or so, but nevr have seen two plants at once and the fruit s are different on each.

They got ripe. great for saving seeds, terrible for eating. Eggplants like cucumbers are used in the immature stage. All of them turn some shade of yellow when ripe.

Eggplants come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. My favorites are the varieties that produce fruit that look like big white eggs. They are so delicious! I've grown green, white, and light purple ones. The shapes vary from egg to a long skinny eggplant shape. Your common eggplant is good, but I like the other ones much better. Also, the smaller, skinnier ones produce more in the cooler climate that I live in. Take another look at the plant with the yellow or green eggplant. If there are smaller yellow or green ones that is probably the color the fruit is supposed to be. Have fun with these different kinds, you too may prefer them.
