Question about a few old saved bulbs!

I only have a handfull of bulbs that survived from last year. I didn't know if they were good or not so I cut the tops off until I could find something that might not be dead. I have 3 medium size ones and 5 tiny ones. I planted the bulbs too deep last year. How deep should I plant these? and in what type of soi? Can't use bone meal because it makes Kitty and the ducks crazy!

NOT TMI. We don't even know what kind of bulbs you are talking about!

Gut feeling: not worth the bother. Buy some good new ones.
