He's brown, fat, slow, close to 1/2 inch long, smells funny, and I find him in the top few rows of the corn when it is ready to pick. What is he, and how did he get there? Would mineral oil on the corn silk after polination keep him out? He seems to work his way around the ear, doing a neat job of just leaving the ear looking naked for a couple of inches. Below him, some of the kernals are brown but otherwise ok.
