Tulips as Potted Plants

I have tulip bulbs bought locally, and numerous bulbs coming in Oct. To plant tulips in containers do I plant now or wait or ???

Plant in Oct or Nov. Allow to stratify over winter on the floor of an unheated garage (easier than burying the pot or using the fridge). You can move the pot to warm temps to force the bulbs after Jan, or just put them outdoors when danger of actual soil temps much below freezing has passed.

I'm going to plant a few new tulip combos in some pots too. It is my understanding that tulips need to set roots in the fall, so they need 2-3 weeks of temperatures that are above 10 degrees C. I'm going to pot them up in black 2 gallon pots & dig them into the veggie garden for the winter. In the spring I can place the pots where ever or even transplant the clump once I figure out where I want them. Thought they would also be cool in slipped in a more decorative pot.
