prunus mume update

Greensboro, NC(Zone 8a)

Someone ran over my little tree! and broke about half the limbs off...I caught this soon after as the leaves were not yet wilted so I rushed them back to the house and got three small cuttings. So far they still look OK and this was about 3 weeks ago. I'm keeping a watch on it and hope that I can still dig it up this winter without much more trauma...we hope to move in March. Haven't forgotten you Mike!

Oh Dabney....that is SO disheartening...telling you...you almost want to put a "hedge" of agave around your babies to protect them....
Speaking of...have pups avail should anyone want some ^_^

I am so sorry about that happening Dabney. I saw a power co. truck who wanted to give me the chips, and I was more than willing to have them.
Aside from not knowing his right from left, he not only ran over a near four year old "seven son", but dumpted the load on it. Imagine how I felt when I got back from the dentist!!! Mike

I can't even imagine...I'd be sooo annoyed...I know how I feel when the dogs go tearing past the potted tropicals on the deck...

This was all human(?) error, and on the wrong side of the drive.

Ugh...Mike THAT would not make me a happy camper...I just don't understand why folks can't at least attempt to be more careful - you know. Even my 17 y.o. DS said to the neighbor (were in townhouses) that was having her siding power washed "Umm sir what are you using to clean with? I'm only asking b/c I know how fussy my mom is about chemicals and her plants" God love him...I was laughing when his sister told me this...trying to picture my "grown" baby stepping out there and asking some man what he was cleaning with....it's these little things in life that keep a smile on your face.

He's a good boy/man! lol He must know the wrath of mom, regarding her plants! Just like the kids and the NJROTC unit an my kids HS. They don't have the ropes back up yet around the garden I put in and they kept walking thru it. DD put up what looks like crime scene tape to keep them out. She's just looking to keep her mom from going postal on them! hehehe!

Good for your DD, Darla!! Yepper...kids have grown up w/ me being just this side of OCD when it comes to my plants. Even the 2 y.o. DGD...will gingerly carry over a priority mail box, to me, (yours, btw, Mike ^_^) saying: "Memee, careful....baaaabbbbieesss?!?"

Actually went and dug up the prunus yesterday to overwinter it in the cold greenhouse. Poor thing looks shot. Will baby it the best I can. And I actually have two cuttings hanging in there; one still has a leaf! It's been around two months I think.
Mike, just coming home from the dentist all by itself is enough drama!

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

Some plants loose all their leaves while rooting, and some don't. I am talking about the same species. Go wonder.
Most all will root when conditions are in order. Mike

I still aim for you to get a piece of this one some day, Mike!

Thanks Dabney. Mike

I am down to one cutting, but it still has a leaf! Except the last few days it looks like it wants to let go of it...and I HOPE it's because it knows it's the season to , and NOT because I made it pout!
Mike?

The big tree is in cold greenhouse for the winter.
