Sugar Cane question

Houston, PA(Zone 6a)

Does anyone know if and how sugar cane can be overwintered? Should I pot it up or can it be dried out and stored dormant. I have one cane, it's about 3 ft tall and very healthy looking.

To my knowledge sugar cane doesn't go dormant. The canes grow up producing sucker growth alongside. When the old canes eventually die there are plenty of younger suckers to take their place. You can chop canes into shorter lengths and put them in water. They develop roots in no time and then can be planted. So probably best to put a few cuttings into a pot and let it overwinter indoors.

Thanks tropicbreeze, that's what I'll do.

At three ft. tall there won't be much propagation material on the plant yet.

Best to pot it up and bring it indoors
