Can any of you compare the flowers and vines of P incense and P blue eyed Susan? And Incense is very cold hardy in 8b. How about blue eyed Susan?

I have both, and took a side by side pic last summer (see below). The Incense vine tends to be better controlled, as it forms a sort of dome on the top of the trellis. The Blue Eyed Susan seems to want to grow straight up. You can train it, but you have to tie the growing tips to the trellis to make them arc around. My Incense seems to flower more readily, but I prefer the Blue Eyed Susan blooms. They are a nice LSU purple! I don't know how cold hardy the Blue Eyed Susan is--I protected mine last winter, and also took a couple of cuttings just in case. Those took almost a month to root.

Beautiful picture! Thanks. So BES doesn't send out laterals. I wonder if cutting the main stem at the top would encourage branching? Like topping a fruit tree.
