Hoya Bilobata

Landisburg, PA(Zone 6a)

I bought one of these this spring in a hanging basket..It now has runners 1 foot or longer hanging down..Now the small flowers are on these runners.......I know next to nothing about hoyas...Should I leave it in the hanging basket??? Should I repot it as the pot is really full..Hard to water it.....IS the nature of this plant to have these long thin runners??? Any help would be appreciated......

I don't know a lot about Hoya's but have learned from a lot of folks here on this fourm. I have a few hoyas in hanging baskets that are full of "runners", hanging down ... some quite a few feet below the baskets. Some hoyas like to climb and others like to hang. It is hard to water the ones that are really full ... I use a garden hose because my plants are outside year round but I still have to try and lift up the foliage to get water underneath to the soil sometimes or else it just runs right off.

I have one that is an Eoxtic Angel plant: http://www.exoticangel.com/Varieties/ShowProductDetails.aspx?productid=119 (sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Wal-Mart garden centers) and it was labeled Hoya bilobata when I purchased it, but I've learned from others here that my plant is actually Hoya DS-70: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/82251/ Sometimes the Exotic Angel plants are mis-labeled. I haven't re-potted mine in a long time as I was told it likes to be root bound. It's been doing really well in the same pot for three years. I think if you prefer it to be non hanging, you can just remove the hanger and maybe place the pot into a more decorative container and let it trail. Or, you could cut off the runners and root them for more plants.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will pop in shortly with some advice for you.
