Bali Whirl

The only double-flowered plumeria. It has such a great fragrance. Even the unopened buds are pretty.

also on my dream list... sigh... so pretty

Too problematic for me, I got rid of it.

Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!! I've never seen a double before.

Problematic how??

Nice Clare, had one for three years, never bloomed.

A poor bloomer, and dropped buds a lot.
It was one of my first acquisitions when I started with plumeria but I gave it 5 years and then passed it on..

Sorry about the blooming problems, Davie and Hetty. That doesn't seem to be a problem for me (knock wood) with this one, but it is with some other ones. I have so many new inflo's coming in now in September -- probably due to the cold and gloomy spring. The plumerias are in a strange cycle now. I just found inflo's on Bill Moragne and Allison. Normally, I would put them in the greenhouse to see them bloom, but they are in the ground now so those inflo's will probably fall off if they don't bloom before the cold hits. I supposed I could build my greenhouse around them if I really wanted to see them bloom. I may do that.

That's unfortunate...

Hahaha and you said I would be the one putting ghs around my plants. You dont think they will make it before it gets too cold?

Laugh it up, funny boy! I'm still betting you put up a greenhouse before I do! LOL! You're fun to tease. I just don't know when the cold will hit. If we have six more weeks of summer heat, than I could see them bloom conceivably. I will be happy if the cold holds off until December.

So gorgeous... I can smell it from here :) What kind of growth pattern does it have? Is it compact or sprawling?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Hi Brittany! Thanks. That's a good question. Mine is too small to tell yet. It seems compact so far.

That will be interesting to see... I'm always looking for nice compact growers... and I love Bali Whirl, fingers crossed...

You and me both. I am hopeful that there will be a lot more compact and dwarf plumerias in the future. That will be nice for people that bring them in for the winter and for people that just like the blooms closer to the ground where they can be enjoyed more.
