Is anyone going to the Gesneriad show in Tampa, Fl tomorrow and Saturday. It is at the USF Botanical Gardens Conservatory and Plant Shop.
Friday 9 am to 4.
Saturday 9 am to 3.
Free admission and parking. I'm going on Saturday and this is my first Gesneriad show of any kind! Can't wait.

I will tell Thad if I see him. He came to speak to our local AV group once and he is responsible for making me addicted to other gesneriads as well. It is all his fault:)
We are going on Saturday so the sales room may not have as much but I really did want to see the show because I can't get to see plants like this except online.

I was at the sale today and it was a good one. I came home with 7gesneriads and 6 begonias from in the shop. The show had some fantastic plants. UNFORTUNATELY I FORGOT MY CAMERA! If you get the chance go . It's worth it.
It's always amazing to see those plants. Photos are nice, but will never never be the same as actually seeing them. I would go if I lived closer, it's just too long a drive and a stay overnight for me. Have fun and buy something completely different! tish
Begoniaguy, congrats!! Aren't these place fun! I would have gone nuts over begonias, too!!

Don't be surprissed one day if you get a call saying Hi were in town would you like to meet for lunch...LOL My best friend Kimmy is on daves when she is not working...But one time I had the tickets on hold at that airport and had to take MIL to doctors and I could not get Kimmy to see if I could come to her home for a few day... Well got her and I ran to the plane and Kimmy picked me up at airport.... So you see never know who might drop in... Kimmy then cam to my house to visit with my family and now come to watch the Super Bowl with him as I am a drag about sports....LOL

What did I find? Kohlerias 'Snakeskin' and 'Blackberry Butterfly', Chrysothemis puchella (2), Sinningia sp 'Florinopsis'. Alsobia 'San Miguel', Smithicodonia 'Heartlands Joy' Begonias 'Hannah Serr', U-168, 'Winkey's Chocalate Chip', 'Mandarin Orange', 'Sweet Thang', and 'Caribbean Prince'.
I'll get another chance at Gesneriads, since the lady I got most of the gessies from is giving a talk at one of the local clubs here in St Pete, two weeks from now.
Heartland's Joy is one of my favorite plants............how much fun for you!!

I got some nice things even though I was there late on the second day. I am posting the photos underneat this post. It was a lot of fun and I was so fascinated to see plants I had only seen on the internet:
I bought Kohleria 'Flirt'; Episcia 'Pink Panther'; Chirita Nimbus; Episcia 'Pink Smoke'; Sinningia 'Tinker Bell'; Columea Midget; Chirita Sunburst; Kohleria Peridots 'Manog Martini' and Kohleria Jarden du Monet. I found some little blue glass containers and finally cleaned off my kitchen window and set some of the plants in the glasses. Hope you like the photos!

Pat, you hit the jackpot. I can't get over the size of these plants. Awesome buys...............I have never even seen a petrocosmea that big!! I love chiritas so much and you got two good one!!
Go to LLG and you can identify whether you have columnea, nematanthus or something else.............(the wonderful orange one blooming)
Smithiana 'Hot Pink Lady' is the biggest one I have seen. Lucky people who get to live in the state of Florida where everything grows big!!
