Question about using Oreos for crusts

I have a recipe calling for 12 oreo cookies crushed with 2 tbsp of butter melted for the bottom crust for a cookie bar. Do you think they mean 12 oreo rounds or the whole cookie(2 halves)? Thanks for any help!
