I have been watching this progress now and then for a couple of weeks anyone else seen this before,a little curious in the desert.
Mike

Very cool, and Clare, that last one is insane looking...
wow!!! That looks very strange Clare!
Crazy, huh? I've seen some really neat-looking ones.
Oh, Mike, that is neat. I've seen a plumeria look just like that. It's a show stopper when that happens.
does someone has a picture of such a plant in bloom? Ik am very curious!
Not a virus,
ts a genetic mutation known as a chimera.
It will grow slow but healthy.
Once big enough, a cutting from it will produce another plant.
Propagating the crested is awesome.
Nice plant.
Thats strange I have a seedling that looked like it had a inflo now looks as though it has 3 starts of tips . Never did get any buds popped up to flower and turned into tips
Seedlings often do that. They will make a nub that looks like the beginning of an inflo and then just branch out.
There is a lady on ebay wats that is selling plumeria with this virus I don't know of customs will let it in?
NOT a virus ;)
What is it then when a tip has 40 tips coming out of it?
a genetic mutation known as a chimera
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_(genetics)
http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/tisscult/Chimeras/chimera.html
While most resources cited refer to chimera primarilly as a variegation, it is also used to identify or classify a mutation of form, the latter being less common. examples would be 'crested plumeria or crested cacti.
I saw a photo of a mutated pudica that had all of its leaves and blooms on the top of a stem that had flattened out, the underside of the branch was bubbly and knobby.
I found it most appealing, im fascinated with some forms of chimera as they can be induced. (not going int it)
Im searching for a picture of the one I like so much, if I find it ill post it.
Thanks, wats on ebay in thailand sells this it is cool looking but they cut half the tips off defacing the plant price was not bad but I won't want it because of the missing tips.
There is a local USA dealer in TX I believe who propagates nice little crested plumies at reasonable prices, I need to dig up the info.
It wont be soon but ill post it when I find it.
I dont trust the Thai dealers with exception to those my friends already deal with
Be careful, expensive and easy to lose out on that game.
I haver dealt with Wat, and got exactly what I ordered. I was impressed with the customer service too.
Davie
there ya go a good endorsement ;)
Im afraid of customs holding them till they rot too.
Im glad you found a reputable dealer, they have some neat stuff over there.
also check out Yawoluk123
She has a State side partner I know personally.
She ships to him, he quarantines and grows them a while before selling to be sure the plant is healthy.

He has excellent plants have bought from her and talked with him great people would tell anyone to buy from them no problems:)
I too have had good luck with 123 Yaowaluk and US partner. Just make sure that if you do buy from Wat, or anyone in Thailand, you have them include a phyto sanitary certificate with the shipment.
and by the time you pay for the cert and shipping, buy enough plants to make it worth it all.
I paid like $57.- in fees for a $9.- cutting once.
Next time I bought 30 of them hehe..
That was from 'Barry' in Singapore, excellent dealer, always accommodating and quite a gentleman.
His stuff is exquisite and very reasonably priced too.
There was some new people on there 6 dollars for 18 inch rooted cutting not a graft I figured for that I take a chance. I ordered 6 very nice looking flowers one was butterfly gold orange special I mean how could you go wrong. No one bid against me so I got all 6 everything total was only 60 dollars. supposedly they sent it month goes by and now all these pictures have another name and wording all the same on these new auctions with this new name. I email these people no response ok ive been took no biggy. contact paypal i'm covered but i have to wait couple more weeks before they will give me my money back. Have 2 days to go heres the slip in mail box package to get there it is flimsy thin box looked like it had been run over 5 times a couple cuttings had been crushed into and the roots were dead. One cutting was totally rotten saved 4 of them have them away from the rest of my stock. Too bad it looked like they were lagit but could not talk english I mean the butterfly gold was double tip too bad feel sorry for these people they put a couple peices of tissue in the box that was all. The box was as strong as a tissue box they sure can grow them to bad they drove the price down.
might explain why no one else bid...
sorry you got took but that seems to be the e-bay game
rip 100 people off and maybe 20 come after you
free $$ right?? :/
I stick to the recommended sellers lists on forums.
You avoid the chance game
some folks risk it and hit the jackpot so its a gamble with unknowns or new dealers.
Many of them steal pictures from other sites and sell cuttings of whites
I cant tell you how many whites I have that were supposed to be something else ;)
I was the 2nd person to buy from aynananee she was the real deal. I like to give every one a chance. you can get with her and buy direct she offered me maya's and other verigated plants not cuttings for 5-10 a peice this was years ago Just have to dig around if your ever wanting volume contact her she will still do it
Dana I bought from same person and had to go through the same thing...had to go through paypal to get money back after two months of waiting for plants. As soon as I got my money back I got my plants, that were basically in the same condition as you described. Out of 10, only one survived.
I came across this crested/fasciated adenium seedling today while I was looking through my collection so I thought I would share.
Also here is some good info from the University of Arkansas on fasciated/crested plants.

Thats pretty cool I like the unusual too.
I've bought from Wat on eBay several times now, and he's always been very communicative and sends nice, healthy plants.
Wat is good he has some cool papaya seed pricey! but cool!
