Hi! I'm looking for all kinds of chocolate scented plants... I'd prefer like plants or cuttings, but seeds are also ok..
I'm especially looking for:
Pelargoniums - with chocolate scent
Mints (mentha) - with chocolate scent
Scorzonera hispanica
Akebia quinata
Berlandiera lyrata
Cosmos atrosanguineus (I have one, but would like a plant from another place...)
Carolina allspice
Iberis amara
Mentha requienii
Heliotropium peruvianum ('album')
also vanilla and coconut scented plants :)
I can send you my updated tradelist by email..

Chocolate scented plants
evert, I have chocolate mint if you want some.
Evert, are you sure Scorzonera hispanica smells like chocolate? (Is it the flower that's supposed to smell like chocolate?) The reason I ask is because I'm looking for seeds for this plant, and I understand that the root - which is edible - tastes like oysters. Now I'm not an oyster fan, but I do know they don't taste anything like chocolate, LOL! So I'm curious what part of the plant is chocolate-scented; and if you get anyone to offer you seeds, will you share some?
Here's a website that has some additonal plants with a chocolate scent: http://www.web-holidays.com/momsday/crafts/garden.htm
The flowers of scorzonera should have very sweet chocolate scent in the morning.. I read it from a German page. Hey, yahoo, I have Chocolate soldier colombine seeds.. :) In the link which go_vols gave is other plants which I am looking for, :]
Evert
I can send you seeds of Berlindier and a tuber of Chocolate cosmos.

Hi, are you able to get cocoa bean mulch? It is wonderful to work with and a beautiful addition to a chocolate garden.
What is cocoa bean mulch? I heard something about it but.. Sounds interesting. Go_vols, I thought, scorzonera is and old vegetable here, we call it mustajuuri (black root) and maybe I can get some roots from a market, or some of my friends.. I'll ask if someone have seeds for you, or little roots.
Hey Mark!
Can I "smooze" up to you for a few of those belandiera seeds too?
Peggy
cocoa bean mulch is the shell of the cocoa bean, looks and smells like unsweetened cocoa powder. It is more available over the last few years, originally, I could only get it through the garden clubs. Breaks down quickly, so is more suited for ornamental mulching and not where dogs are apt to get into it, as chocolate is toxic to dogs.
Evert, if you can get some seeds, that would be great. (I'm afraid roots may or may not make it in a timely fashion through our respective customs offices.) If you locate some, please drop me an e-mail and we can arrange for me to get postage to you. Thanks!
Marcia, I think I can't get any cocoa mulch here... It sounds very nice. Do you know where I could get it?
Go_vols, yep I'll tell you if I get any...
Evert all garden centre and DIY stores carried the coco mulch. maybe Finnish ones also carry it.

Go_vols! I got some Scorzonera seeds from my friend. They are Venäläinen Jättiläinen (Giant Russian) variety... Are you interested?
Absolutely! You have mail....
