Heavy rain and windstorm last night....my questions are...will that nub produce another Y ? and
If the 2 y sections root for me will produce buds without having to form a new Y?
and
both sections of the broken off Y have buds on them...if kept in water, might they bloom?
Any info will be most appreciated.
Helen
OUCH!! I got hard hit!
I'm sorry your Brug lost some of its branches. If the nub is above the original "Y", the new shoots coming off of it will also produce "Y"s and buds. When rooted, the broken sections will continue to behave as if they were still attached to the mother plant. They will continue to produce "Y"s and buds.
If the buds were just starting to open or just about to open, the buds might open. If they are small, I would remove them as well as all large leaves and allow the cutting to use its limited energy to produce roots.
bettydee...you are always sooo helpful...thanks so much for your info
The nub is actually part of the base of each of the Y growths.
Opposite the nub is the second Y the seedling formed...it's like as if you took hold of each side and broke the growth off but left a bit of the base.
It will be interesting to see what happens with each part. I've got the one blooming flower in water but it is drooping.
Oh..good,good, good...I just reread what you said'''then looked at the pic here..then went outside and looked at the plant..Yeah..there is a Y below the broken stem...and all this over a NOID seedling...but I love it...it had lots of buds...the other Y has 10 buds right now...and it has a wonderful scent...can't recognize what it is but I enjoy sitting out in the evening by my garden.
I was so saddened to read of your episodes with the grasshoppers..I know how much we all care for our babies ...and how low we can go when nasty things happen so I can imagine how you felt. Every time I see a grashopper now..I take off my shoe and try to get him....
Thanks again.
