The Large Seedling at 6 months Award this year goes to Freds cross of
Axel Rose X Lugers Windsong...
This Lovely baby went from being a seed.. to an 8 Foot tall tree in 6 months.. it has a lovely tree form.. no lower bushing branches.. and a 6 ft wide canopy.. It's entering a flowering cycle .. setting buds now.. Pictures soon..
I'm getting my camera set again.. I still need to adjust the brightness... some how or widen it's field of adjustment.. but here it is next to a smaller but quite healthy 5' seedling
Large Seedling at 6 months Award
That's amazing!
Is this planted in the ground or in a pot? If it is in the ground how are you going to overwinter it?
it's in a 8' long planter... so the roots can streach out... I'll chop them down a foot or so away from the trunk.. and put it in a pot.. it will either go insidewith me.. or live in some new roof overwintering sructure.. Last year I built a foam cool room... with a small heater to keep it from 36-46* F.. for this fall I'm researching an inflatable structure... with about an 8" air channel all round it...
Will you take a pic of the planter? Also a pic of the two structures will be great too.
this is one possibility for an inflatable storage room.. they will make it in colors or with graphics on it.. this is a yellow one.. the entire building had a series of square section air chambers..about 6-8 " thick.. depending on the model..side by side so it should be air tight also... aside from a slightly it seems inferior door .. some have an air lock for access.. it's just getting them small enough to fit where I have to place it... I'd like to work with them and develop a greenhouse line... a small market for winter storage and seed starting I guess .. but it's beauty lies in it's deflating and compact storage... and portabiliy
Gordon, the seed you sent me of the same cross is a wonderful seedling right now, but she is at home in Kansas and I am here in NY worrying about her.. she had little okras forming when I left.. you are the greatest.. thanks!
Gordon,
Great photos! Thanks for sharing.
