Sparrow's can be hard to ID, but you can break them down, whether you were near a field or it was near a feeder or in the lawn etc. He does look like he just woke up. lol

It looks like a Field Sparrow...such a cutie. I can usually tell by the white eye-ring and the pink bill. But of course...we all know I could be wrong!

Well the whole day today was me walking the edge of a large field of switchgrass and little bluestem. These were along the fence line with mixed trees that are the beginning of woods. So… mixed environment. Missed a good number of sparrows that were actually in the grass in one area. I've seen white-crowned sparrows in that part of the field.

I need a bigger lens!
