Elusive Critter Identification Please

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I looked for a forum to help me identify this large lizard that has moved into my shed and couldn't find a lizard (gecko) identification forum so I do live in Texas (Houston) and figured this was as close as I could come to the correct forum. If there is another forum that I should ask, please advise but, in the mean time can anyone help me identify this beautiful elusive creature who is helping me with fly control? If I can get a full shot I will add it later.

Thanks so much

It's a Gecko!

Thank you for your answer. It's been great fun from the first time I knew he existed back behind my garage when I freaked out and screamed like a little girl to buying a new camera to try to grab a photo of my huge lizard monster to stalking him for a photo.

I've gone from lots of photos all hours of the day and night of where he WAS to turning on the camera, zooming in all the way and just sneaking around the corner and clicking and hoping and finally grabbing a few photos of him. It's almost dissappointing to finally get them since my story was taking on loch ness monster porportions with my husband and friends.

I raise animals and found that I have very few flys this season and haven't had to do as much fly control as I have had to do before he arrived so he and his friends are welcome to move in as long as they just wave and say, "hey I'm over here don't freak out" and of course if he has that cute Australian accent like the Geico gecko it would be even more fun.

I am just amazed that in my 60+ years in Texas that I've never seen one in the wild before.

Thanks again for answering.

That looks like a Tokay Gecko, you haven't seen any because they are not native.

I had a friend that lived in an apartment in Arlington and they had roaches like crazy. The neighbors had cats and would not let anyone spray, so he just got this same Gecko and turned them loose in his apartment and soon, no more roaches.
