My Hero

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Every Fall it's an all out war between me against caterpillars on my Confederate Rose. I usually lose. This year I discovered I had a comrade in arms. My hero.

Thanks! I love Green Lynx Spiders .. they seem to love all my plants .. they do not make webs and are skilled hunters.

Xeramtheum, would you send a army of offspring up this way! lol. I put my first fall veggie garden in, the seed all came up, they seemed to thriving. Then one morning I found the hungry hungry tiger swallowtail caterpillar at the end of a night of feasting. The entire row was gone! Gone! I couldn't believe it.
GREAT PIC!

Thanks!

Oh bummer .. that has happened to me before. I grew passion flowers the first time this year and I had no idea that Gulf Fritillary Butterflies love them. They've laid so many eggs, the offspring have totally denuded almost all of my passies.

I've never seen an egg sac for the Lynx, I keep looking. If I see one I'll send it to you!

We had 5 deer in the side yard this week but so far the only thing eating the new seedlings is my cats! Then they come inside and throw up the remains. a double insult.

And I bet on your favorite rug too! About a month ago my kitty Barney barfed on the linoleum in the kitchen .. was cause for celebration!!!

That is so neat! I bet the deer was eating you baby daylillies, they love Hosta too. Hoping I can have Hosta, got me a pup in the yard with the Hosta, maybe he will keep them away.
My big dog was barking and I hope she would chase them, but who knows at night.
that Green spider was gorgeous and doing his garden job too.
