There's no doubt about the Canada Geese in the pic, but what kind of duck is the little fellow behind the center subject?
I saw a lot of the little guys and was thinking they could be a juvy Canada Goose, but changed my mind because my book makes me think they all look alike, juvies, too.
So, what is he?

CLOSED: What is behind the Canada Goose?
Mallards.
Thanks, these are two females, right?
No, they are both males coming out of eclipse (moulting) plumage, as shown by the green feathers on the crown of the head; the head will eventually turn completely green.
I'm glad you pointed out the green on the head. I can't wait to go back and get pictures when they are completely green. I looked in my book and they are handsome.
I guess they'll still be around at that time.

Yep, Mallards. They'll be into full plumage by mid to late October, maybe a little earlier.

I can't wait, thanks Resin.
