Brownea grandiceps from seed

Gainesville, FL

My Brownea bloomed, and where the flower was there is now a nice seed pod.
I want to harvest the seeds and plant them to try to grow another tree.
When do I harvest them? Do I pick the pod now while it is still greenish? Or do I wait til it pops open or something, or dries out or what??

I am not hugely experienced growing stuff from seeds, have looked in Plantfiles and online and can;t find the info I am looking for so I am asking for practical experience here

My experience with leguminous trees is that you have to wait until the pod cracks open to harvest the seed. I'd consider putting a piece of old pantyhose over the pod to prevent loss of the seed shoud the pod burst open unexpectedly. Once I had the seeds, I'd see how hard the seed coats were, then I'd scarify if necessary, then soak and plant them. Of course, I'd use Air-Pots to avoid root circling, but you can use whatever containers you have available. You should get good results, especially with fresh tropical seeds such as you are working with.

Thanks Lari Ann that's great advice, I will do that. The A. pedatoradiatum seeds finally ripened and I planted them...waiting!!!!
