Hoya "Kapit Borneo" query

The first couple of umbels on my Hoya "Kapit Borneo" to develop flowers dropped them all just before they opened.

It was a surprise when the flowers opened without falling off.

Very late afternoon the flowers started to close up. I didn't know that any Hoyas closed up overnight. But during the night these were just short of fully closed.

In the morning the flowers never opened any more but Green Tree Ants came to them and appeared to be getting nectar. There was no scent that I could detect. Just wondering whether this is normal for this species.

There's more umbels developing but no leaf or vine growth. Problem is I'm going to be away for about 3 weeks so won't know what's happened til after I get back.

The flowers, open, last for only a few seconds.... well, really a few hours.

This is one from David Liddle earlier this year. The first couple of umbels fell apart before all the flowers opened. This one opened for the one day, never re-opened the next any more than shown in the photo. But the flowers never fell off during the whole of the next day. Unfortunately I won't be back there for about 3 weeks now. Perhaps if the flowers hang on for a bit longer they might develop seed?

I don't know that particular Hoya so I can't comment on it's habits, just on your great photo's! It sure has a lovely bloom, what a shame it only opens for a day. Great shot of the fully opened bloom, then half closed, and I love the picture of the ants crawling up the vine too!
