Hosannah is gone

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

My mom's German Shpeherd Hosannah was put to sleep this afternoon. We had taken her to the vet yesterday because she didn't seem quite herself. Lethargic, but nothing serious, we thought. They did an exploratory surgery today because they suspected a septic abdomen, because of extreme tenderness, and a very high white blood cell count and elevated temps, even after a night on IV antibiotics. They found inoperable cancer the size of a softball, involving 3 lobes of her liver and the blood supply, that was oozing pus into her abdomen. I made the choice to not wake her up from the surgery.

My mom died 2 1/2 years ago, Hosannah was her baby. When mom made cookies, Hosannah would sit on a kitchen chair at the table and wait to lick off the beaters. When mom did anything Hosannah was right there. Now they are together again.

I'll try to find a picture of her to post, I don't have one on my computer.
