NEED HELP

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

My plant is very big, and keeps getting lots of flower pods BUT they either drop off like these, or they are deformed, this plant is from seeds that I had pollinated with Hawwian Double White, and Golden Lady, I am so frustrated at losing the pods, can anyone tell me what is wrong. I did send Monika an email hoping she will have some advice for me.

Hi...I've found that heat and humidity can have an adverse effect on pod development in some varieties. At least this is so in Central Florida. The problem seems to go away when temps level out at around 80 degrees with 50% or less humidity.

I'm getting a LOT of bud drop this year too. Very frustrating.

Doris, it could be just an illusion, but the pods seem to have a coating of some sort. Could it be powdery mildew? Have you split the pods open to see if the embryos were pollinated? If the Brug has an inordinate amount of pods, it might drop what it can't support especially when the plant is stressed by the heat.

I think they are buds not pods. Do you mean your buds are dropping before they open? That is pretty common with new plants. I have grown seeds from that cross and they did drop buds for a few weeks, then started blooming. Hey, it could be good, usually the ones that drop aare double blossoms.

I agree ...doubles are very prone to drop buds in any extreme conditions. Have you opened a bud to see how many skirts are in there?.
