Sorry about that......will get it this time.......just zoom in and enjoy.
I am going to try her way.
Try Again on Teazviolet's Suggestions on Growing AV Leaves!
very interesting, Gail. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I will try this with a few of my NOID A.V.s.
I am trying it (with a lot of hope) on very expensive leaves from Tea....but this is how to learn...........and I want to try the soil less mix and perlite rather than the vermiculite and perlite I have been using.
She also told me in an email that the babies will separate much better when you can put water on a soil less mix rather than the stiff perlite and vermiculite.
I found a recipe online for 1/3 of each:perlite, vermiculite, peat moss and was going to try that. It is hard for me to find vermiculite in this area. I have one bag so it won't last long. I think I messed up today. I have been wanting small a.v.s pretty bad...minis and semi minis. I placed an order with someone in WI on Monday. She wasn't for sure what she had and promised me she would call back Monday afternoon. She didn't so I sent an e-mail yesterday and no response. I called her today and spoke with her and said she was supposed to call me back and let me know what she had available. Her response was "and I didn't did I". Oh my goodness...she still couldn't give me any answers and she has my credit card #. I am supposed to call back Monday afternoon with a list. I hope this works out.

Tea says you don't want vermiculite with the soil less mix (or peat) and perlite.........just adds to much moisture..........and they rot so easily.............now........having said that, vermiculite and perlite alone don't rot nearly as easily as when you have either peat or a soil less mix........
Who is WI?
??? I guess I missed it. I thought on the first page it said peat moss and perlite. You say that is not good? WI is for Wisconsin. Have you heard of an internet site for a.v.s from there? A friend of mine told me that is where she gets hers. I am worried now. I found the site on watchdog and I don't like what I am reading. Belisles. I read where you said you were waiting on yours and I guess I just wanted mine a little quicker. I have been wanting some for a couple of months now and decided to order. I hope it isn't a mistake.
Okay...I re-read what you wrote. So just peat and perlite. Gotcha.
I have never ordered anything from Belisles so I can't comment.
I cannot remember where I read this but Belisles is on some list somewhere as being a good place so hopefully you are OK. I think I must have read it on GardenWeb where I lurk a bit.
