How is Miss Marshmallow?

Portland, OR(Zone 8b)

We haven't heard about her in a bit. Is she still a house lamb?

Yes, bring us up to date. She must be a pretty big girl by now.

Thanks for asking! Yes, she is definitely a big girl now - roughly 40 lbs and growing like a weed. She is not in the house now - this is her 3rd week outside with the rest of the flock. She is still extremely attached to me and will follow me around the farm as I do chores, etc. She likes to go gardening with me and will bleat pitifully if I am within sight of the sheep pasture. However, if she can't see me, she just hangs out with the other sheep. I think she will always be very people-oriented. It will be easier for shearing and hoof trimming and such. She is a sweet girl and always wants a fuss even if it's just through the cattle panel fencing. I try to fuss her every day. :-)

Here she is with her brother to her right (eating from the grain bucket). You can see how much bigger she is from having been pampered indoors and getting all the milk, rather than having to share it.

Oh she's lovely. What kind is she?

LOL....I wish I knew! Her father is full Icelandic. Her mother is a sheep that came from our local animal shelter. She was not supposed to be bred at all, but our ram found her irresistible to the point that he busted a fence to get to her. She and her sister came from a farm where they were neglected. Nobody (shearer, vet, other sheep friends) has been able to give a breed identity on the two ewes. They have been suggested as being likely crossbred and the suggestions have ranged from Cotswold to Polypay to Romney to Corriedale and even to a breed called "fat tail" because they have these weird paunchy bottoms on them. So, she's half Icelandic, and half unknown (which is probably in fact quarters or eighths of different breeds).

Yes, I wanted one like her. Guess that is out of the question. She's totally unique.

Well....she has a sister....but her sister wasn't bottle fed. She does have the same fleece though!
