Little Rock AR butterfly foster moms - Help

North Little Rock, AR(Zone 7b)

My first year fostering the butterflies and I have more Monarch hatchlings than I have food for.

Is there a central Arkansas forum member who has extra milkweed that I could purchase or might you know of a location for a source of wild milkweed in central Arkansas?

Thank you,

Mary, put an ad on craigs list that your looking for milkweed - I check the farm & garden section daily for plants/cuttings and when I have extra I post an ad to share. I have loads of milkweed plants/ seeds - I can share seeds and wish I could send cuttings to help feed the cats, but in this heat it would be dead before it got to you.

Ruth, thank you for this suggestion. I've never tried Craig's list but will give it a go.

I just received many purchased packets of various perennial milkweed seeds and have half of each packet in the fridge to try and break dormancy. I'll try to get some germinated this fall, to get a head start on next spring. Hope I don't ever get in this fix again.

Also, if there are any local forums for your area, try posting there. I know that city-data has certain local forums, maybe it has one for the Little Rock area.

Oh, I think this is the forum. I discovered one in my general area. Not many local forums around.
