I have found some calendars to be a little contradictory, and I'm wondering if some are based on astrology (which is earth-centered) and some on astronomy (which is sun-centered). I'm really having trouble knowing just when to do what! Any thoughts? Those of you who have been having such good results (Glenda comes to mind) -- which are you using? I'm SO late getting my fall garden in, and I need to work quickly, but the full moon is coming up!
(I also suspect we'll have an early autumn -- okay, I PRAY we'll have an early autumn because it's been deadly hot here since April.)
astrology v. astronomy
I have notice the differences also, I don't have time (71 years old) to test the contradictions.
I'm going by the Old Farmers Almanac, they've been around for a long while.
Just bought the 2010 edition today, I also read their 'Best Days' chart. It worked well last time I bread the rabbit, she had 9 barbies, way too many. Last time I had my hair cut I chose a day for 'discourage growth' been 2 months.

Don't remember if I planted the SunFlowers by the moon or not. ^_^

BEAUTIFUL garden, rentman! You're doing something right. I know my Uncle Fred always planted in accordance with the Farmer's Almanac and always had a great garden. I'll stop and see if I can pick one up. I know about not having time to fuss much with contradictions -- the job, the critters, the garden work, the yard work... hmmm... spare time... I remember that...
My rabbits help with their Poo in the garden, that sunflower grew to 17" dia. what a head, over the roof.
I remember my Grandpa saying we plant peas this Wednesday, I want all you kids to help. But Grandpa I have football practice after school........not this Wednesday. Didn't know then why he was so forceful.
We kids got Big money for harvesting watermelons, $1.00 a day. I was so small and the melons were so big I would roll them out of the field.
BTW the Almanac book does not have all the great information the web site has. I buy the book just out of habit.
Also we have had a very cool Summer here, last year it went to 97....I know that's still cool for you guys.
It getting below 60 some nights here, have to put on a long sleeve shirt when I go out to feed the rabbits. ^_^
