Hello, all - DH and I are on the prowl for some ornamental grasses. We're interested in finding some divisions of various hardy (zone 5) non-invasive grasses for SASE. If you're dividing several and can stuff a little of each in one PM box, we'd kiss your ever-lovin' feet! ;D
In particular, we're interested in the following:
Japanese Blood Grass (Imperata cylindrica 'Rubra')
Flame Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Purpurascens')
Zebra Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus')
Blue Oat Grass (Helictotrichon sempervirens)
Variegated Feather Reed Grass (Calamagrostis arundinacea)
Morning Light Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning Light')

P.S. Let us know if you are signed up with PayPal - we'd be glad to pay postage that way, too.

Sanks, Susie! You want me to send you postage with PayPal or via snailmail?
Kim, I do have a few grasses that I am going to be dividing soon. I will keep you in mind. Check with me about mid-week and e-mail me your address. I would be glad to send you guys some! sue
Hi Garden Couple :)
If you two are considering any smaller grasses, I have seeds for black flowered fountain grass and sea oat grass. Both are easy and hardy for you. Let me know.
Pea Pod ;)
May I make a few remarks? Japanese Blood Grass is definitely invasive! I can vouch for Badseed's black flowered fountain grass, I grew some from her seed, and it was easy and fast growing, beautiful plants! I am also interested in Helictotrichon sempervirens, if anyone has seed (is this same as sea oat grass?). And I am always looking for Hakonechloa albomarginata, the white variegated one. John
*blush* an endorsement on my seeds. :) Thank you!
Michele
Like I e-mailed Badseed & Ruby42 just now, I think I'd better hold off on any SASE stuff...
Our stove's last working burner just started going ffffzzzzzt today, even when turned off, so it's now unplugged. I think I need to hold off on plant-spending and postage costs! One element in the oven was already out, LOL. So, in the meantime, we're cooking with the crockpot, the microwave, and the toaster oven!
Thanks for the offers, though!
:O) Kimberley
Kimberley, I don't know whether it's permissible to jump in on someone's thread this way, but I've been trying to find some ornamental grasses hardy in (or close to) zone 4b. I'm especially interested in the Japanese Blood Grass, as I saw it used in a garden showcased on a PBS Wisconsin gardening program. They did address the invasive character of the plant, but added that in WI it wasn't a problem at all.
If anyone still has divisions and/or seeds for SASE I'd love to take advantage of your offer. I'd offer a trade...but I'm sure I don't have anything of much interest (unless of course you'd like some Sweet Potato Vine...grins)

Jump away, no problem! :) I didn't even see this until now.
Thanks KImberley, I hope people are still watching this thread.

I don't have blood grass but have a ton of self sown moudry! LOL
