CLOSED: Which Thrush?

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

It's not helpful that all the photo's I got are from the rear, and very distant at that. Sorry.

I don't think it's a Hermit, as I saw no tail or wing flicking, and in the past I've only seen them on the ground

Is it even possible to ID w/o a frontal view?

Not be this ole boy, maybe Resin can.

Why didn't you just whistle and get it to turn around -:)

Swainson's Thrush, could be it. A Hermit Thrush has a rusty backside and the white eye ring, but a frontal shot probably would have been the best bet for an ID. I do think its one of the two.

I had a Hermit's last year, and this just didn't look the same to me. I think this one was quite a bit lighter, too.

Heck, Hack, I haven't been able to whistle since getting my teeth pulled.

Swainson's Thrush for me too - the buffy eye ring fits, as does the not-very-reddish tail.

Thank you all. A first for me!

First birds - I love 'em.

This is the 40th new bird I've seen here since the creek rehab started after Coho salmon showed up in '04. They'd not been seen since 1949.

Wow that is great tiger!
