Vining Milkweed

Frankfort, KY(Zone 6a)

Last year I raised a number of Monarch, this year I haven't found any.
This is what they feed on around here and today I found these large seed pods, never saw them before.
I did not notice any flowers, but I will watch these pods and try to save some seeds, although I really do not need any more of this vine.
The state of Ohio calls it Honeyvine milkweed, I'm sure it has other names.

Interesting that you have had monarch cats on your vining milkweed. Haven't known of many who do find evidence of cats on their vines.

Yes, I've heard that honeyvine is very very invasive and to be extra careful when siting the vine. And that it should be 'dead headed' as you say. Is your vine very large?? And do you find volunteers everywhere?

Thanks.

All the Monarch cats I raised last year were feed this vine. It was on the vine that I found them.
I went all around my neighborhood asking about milkweed and no one was growing any so I feed them the vine.
Have not found Any this year and I have some real milkweed plant growing now.
The vine I have is not very invasive but I do have it in most of my planted areas. I can pull it out with little trouble.
This is the first year I have found the seed pods. ??
Found this guy yesterday crawling in the grass ? ? put him in the cage and put grass and the vine, it is eating the vine.
Do you have any idea what it is ?

I don't know for sure, but I think I saw one like that on a Mexican Milkweed once before. Does anyone know what it is?
