Greenhouse possibly for sale

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

My neighbor is having a garage sale and is selling her greenhouse. I believe it's a kit greenhouse. I have never been in it or looked at it up close. I'm going over to take a look. If it's not something I can use myself, I'll post a photo of it and the price (which I'm unsure of right now) and if anyone is interested, I can help you make arrangements for it.

Sounds like that didn't pan out.

But look what I found tonight online - this 5 x 10 greenhouse is on sale for $829. . .

OMG that's gorgeous. *wish*

Oh, sorry, I forgot to get back to you guys! They wanted $1500 and it so wasn't worth that! They did end up selling it at the garage sale but I don't know for how much.

The house Katie found is very pretty! Do you think it's as easy to assemble as they claim?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I'm sure they're not including the part about preparing a level spot with gravel or concrete slab . . .

It looks very similar in construction to my RION model but with different paneling. Assembly time would definitely not include leveling and/or foundation. Both of mine are built on slightly unlevel ground, with a level base of railroad ties for the structure itself. In one, I simply barked the floor and deal with a little warpage on the natural floor. In the other, I built a bridge down the center, and filled the sides (floor) on either side of it with dirt and plant directly in the ground for some items. Both methods have worked perfectly well for me. As the owner of two varieties that I have assembled myself, I will tell you that the plastic models are certainly easier to put up than the aluminum frames. I swear I drilled and then put rivits through 80 billion holes (maybe an exageration, but it felt like it!) in my aluminum one, and it took forever. My Rion I assembled myself (with the exception of setting the roof---it is 10 x 16) in probably one full day of work not counting leveling the base.

IMHO...if you are buying a greenhouse and aren't getting it used a a killer price...do your research... look at them in person.... I have a Sunglow (aluminum) that was smaller and costlier (still love it and would recommend it, but it isn't the favorite of my two), and a RION, which was cheaper, but seems to hold the heat better and was easier to put up. How easy are they to walk in? How sound does the construction seem? Does it "feel" cheap? You will spend hours and hours happily in the right greenhouse...don't save a couple of hundred at setup just to wish that you had done something different alltogether after the first year. Again...just an opinion, but a strong one!

I saw a couple at a RU I recently went to and I think some dark winter night with my U haul I could get them anyone interested. LOL

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Heh heh.

I've got dogs and I know how to use them!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Heh heh heh.

Thanks for reminding me to bring sedatives. Now what do your dogs weigh. One at about 78#, 2 at 45# and one at about 30#. That should do it. Now I think a 50 U Haul and a tailgate lift.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Or maybe just some nice steaks . . .

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

I think you would go broke on Bonnie, who we guess weighs in at over 150. Steaks would definitely work better, particularly for her but, again, your investment in such and your gas and rental costs would probably exceed the price of a very nice greenhouse similar to ours.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Bonnie likes her steak done medium rare...Ginger likes hers a little more on the well side. Hunter, Mocha, and Phoenix are not fussy...I don't think that they chew much anyway. BTW...I have a couple of attack cats too, so don't forget the shrimp!

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Ooops! How could I forget the ankle biter with the loud voice? Gigit only likes filet mignon...medium rare......

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

From what I saw, the good thing about Gidget is that she'll be sticking pretty close to mom. So I guess now we need to bring a grill with us? Steve, maybe the sedatives are the better route. :-)

You guys have never heard of "Pill Pockets" AKA doggie cocaine.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Take a look at the sunglow.com great greenhouses. I love the pop-up one and Home Depot sells them.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Years ago, when my girlfriend's dog was taking chemo pills for lymphoma, we thought the idea of a pill pocket was such a good idea. But we couldn't come up with a catchy name, darn it.

It is the most expensive cookie we sell and we sell several bags a day to everyone. Dogs and cats love it!
