How can I get the white part of my brugs to be really white? Some years they are snowy, but this year, they are slightly beige or yellowish. Thanks for any help.

Ugly white
Syb,
You don't have a Brug. You have a Datura. Most Datura are annuals so you are not dealing with the same plants year after year. You are dealing with different plants every year. You need to plant the one variety you like and get rid of all the volunteers you don't like or remove the seed pods from the ones you don't want coming back the following year.
Thanks bettydee. I've only ever had this same plant. I mean it does die back every year, and then others come up. Datura, huh? OK, but what about the dirty white?
My experience with Datura is limited to what I have read. I did come across this bit of information which might help explain the color variation. Since Datura and Brugmansia are closely related, it is possible that Datura bloom color is also affected by weather, temperature and humidity as are Brugs. You have to admit that the drought has pretty hard on plants these past two years. The air has been extra dry ... and the heat!!!
For example, Datura have the interesting property of being able to change size of plant, size of leaf, and size of flowers, all depending on location. The same species, when growing in a half-shady damp location can develop into a magnificent flowering bush half as tall as a person, but when growing in a very dry location will only grow into a thin little plant just higher than his ankles, with tiny flowers and a few miniature leaves.
Thanks, again.
if u want white datura, try D. inoxia or D. metel "alba" these two are white in color.
Debra,
that is what i referred to as Datura inoxia http://www.erowid.org/plants/show_image.php?i=datura/datura_inoxia_flower7.jpg
yes, I know, I was too lazy to type all that LOL
no offense intended, but it help those not too familiar with the plant to avoid confusion. :D

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post. So sorry I did not see any but the first. It was September, and I was sort of out of gardening mode and on with the rest of my life. Again, thanks. Syb
