CLOSED: An Egret or a Cormorant?

Piscataway, NJ

Another question for the experts.... I managed to snap this picture over the Raritan River in New Jersey. My best guess is that its an egret or a cormorant - or some kind of heron - but I can't narrow it down any further. Can anybody give a positive id?

Thanks in advance

Great Egret

Cormorants are black, except for juveniles, which have a paler brown belly; never all-white.

I managed to get a better picture of what appears to be the same type of bird, and unless I'm mistaken, it appears to be a Great Egret (Great Egret is the name of the bird, not my opinion of this particular animal).

Yep, Great Egret again. If you prefer, call it a Great White Egret. They're very nice birds!
