Want to bring in the hibiscus standards I have but leave the bugs outside.
Has anyone used bayer all in one? If so how? The brug forum I have seen where they have used it with good results.
What do you do to get ready to winter over the hibs?
bringing in hibiscus for the winter
Quit with the fertilizer, use the Bayer treatment one time.Follow directions to the letter. I have had great results with it. Bring them inside for the season when the nights STAY in the upper to mid 40's. They will tolerate lower temps but a wet (rain) and cold hibiscus is a risky thing. The leaves will wilt from the cold and wet and most people think they need more water and drown them. Rinse off the foliage a couple of times and check under the leaves for insects just before bringing in.Place in a sunny window and enjoy them all winter. If the stems are really long do a partial trim before bringing inside. Many leaves will drop after they come inside but this is normal till they re-adjust.

Thank you Kyle, we are going to have lows in the 40's for two nights followed by rain and low 80's and 50's at night. I put the bayer on them and now fingers crossed. They will go either in a solar room or in a garden room. They will get lots of light. Hate the winter coming on.......especially this cold this early.
happgarden, it will probably be 60 F for Xmas!!!LOL Crazy weather this year.
Kyle :-)
Kyle, we can only wish....LOL Has Iowa had lots of rain also? Afraid some o the tropicals will start to rot, but won't have time to bring them in until the weekend.
happ, we have had a very rainy cool summer. The grass quit growing for only about three weeks then away we went with the rains again and now we mow about twice a week. And I should know about mowing, I do 40+ hrs a week of it now at work. :-(
Kyle :-)
My DH mows about 13 acres where we live, we have a small business, but at least it is on a tractor! We use to hire teens to mow the smaller areas on a riding lawnmower, good at 13 years old, ok at 14, at 15 cars and girls took over and all was lost.....LOL
The cool wet has kept the weeds and grass competely out of control, so I feel for you. I gave up on weeding the gardens. I still have things to plant so unless the weed is in my way I guess they will stay......
Hope we have a nice weekend. Fingers crossed.
