Caterpillar eating black eyed susans?

I think I found a monarch caterpillar on my black eyed susan tonight.
I thought they only ate milkweed. What else could it
be? Can I put it together in the same cage with my monarch cats?

Is it identical to your others? Stripes? They are pretty unmistakable with size being the only variant. Maybe he was traveling and looking for some fresh milkweed.
