It is a winter squash. They can be picked when the skin is too hard to scratch with a fingernail. Personally I wait until the vines go down on all winter squash.

Ok, thanks, I'll just let them grow, I figured that with other winter squash, but this one I wasn't sure about.

I lost all my spegetti squash plants to the squash vine borer, figured it was too late to plant again, can't find any seed locally. That was discouraging becuase spegetti squash is over 5.00 for one squash and I love that squash.

SVB can be a problem with all C. pepo squash for organic growers.. There are several cultivars of Spaghetti squash beside the old Vegetable Spaghetti. You might try a newer one like Stripetti. Sometimes if you plant early or very late you can beat them . Your ag extension agent may be able to tell you when the first flight normally arrives.

oh yeah, It wasn't the older variety that I planted but that miniature type spegettti squash I got from Park seeds, but I forgot the name of the squash.
