To Trade:
Spiranthes cernua var. odorata
I'm separating this at a bad time because it's about to bloom. But I am putting the big clumps somewhere else. So please read carefully if you are interested in trading for this plant. You will be getting one piece about to bloom and a division growing off a bigger clump (and whatever comes apart while dividing). Not huge pieces (starts) but it seems to multiply pretty fast to me and it's hardy. This is the scented variety. Anything on my WANT list would be a great offer. But also let me know what you have because I love plants in the Papilionaceae and Ranunculaceae family.
CLOSED: HAVE: Ground Orchid
Let me find something you want, I'd LOVE some of this. Mekos. D-mail coming.
Hey girl,
Glad to see you getting back in trading mode again. LOL
ONLY a little. Not been able to do much. The weather is cooling some and got some needed rain. Love the ground orchids.
JAN...LOL LOL LOL!
Hi budgie, how you been? Got to come over to my auction thread, big surprise for wednesday night.
Hi Mekoa. Doing good between my day jobs and shipping plant orders, i don't have much time for browsing too much lately,
I've watched a few of the auctions but just don't have time for seeds right now. I have probably an 18 qt tote box full that I will never get around to starting.
Hey mekos - budgie just might have more seeds than you - lol . . .
loca
Yea budgie, maybe we need to get together and trade seeds!?! Most of mine are tropical and exoctic. Got to keep in greenhouse for winter if I sow them.
Maybe I'll dig the tote out one day and go through them. I'll send some to Kimmie to play with during the winter and see if they're still viable.
Kim, you want some old seeds to play with?
Ummmm Jan I really need to give some of mine away! LOL But holding on for dear life..
Who are you and what did you do with the real Kim? LOL
That is why I'm doing these auctions. We can put some seeds up and others say what they would trade for them and the majority will go to the newbies for the 10 packs of free seeds to start out with. I do notice some new ones looking for stuff and send some free, no trade necessary, but have not been able to dig outside for a while, it's been too hot and I have so many pots sprouting now and need more places to put them. I looked this morning and have the Bauhinia blakeana orchid tree-purple and a White orchid tree out there sprouted. About 8 of them-4 each color. 2 red brugmansias, pot full of red chinese magnolia vines, just peeking out, african moraea-bicolor, african iris, salvia-black and blue-guaranitica, periwinkle just started blooming has seed pods now.Mexican flame vines-they are starting to climb already, My screened room is full. And seed stash is full. I'm about to announce a halloween surprise package of seeds plants and bulbs in red, black, purple and orange for wednesday nights auction. Might want to get those seeds packs out and start going through them.
Seriously,
If you saw my yard you would understand. I'm getting ready to raised the nursery tables to about 3 ft off the ground to give the dogs a bit more room. Currently the bigs ones have to stick to a few paths. At least the chihuahua and yorkie/pug mix can fit underneath them and take delight on evading the big ones during play time.
Excuse me for butting in. Budgie you have damil
I don't understand none of this new stuff going on around here! I am wayyyy out of the loop. When I start reading about seed auctions...chit chats...I get confused!!!! And I use to be the seed Queen...ha ha!
My mail just came and I got 3 piecea-trees of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius-elephant foot yam. White bloom. I can't believe it! This was a total surprise from a friend who was sending me the huge dutchman's pipe vine seeds and sent this and red cannas-indica as a bonus. 2 bags full of seeds and 3 trees.
Well, the auction was my idea because I had so many seeds that were rare or exoctic and wanted to share with others, but if I just send them out soon will be out of seeds and no help to the new ones coming in, so I decided to auction the seeds, then only those wanting the seeds will bid and if I choose their bid they send what they bid to me, I keep a few and put the rest in a baggie for arejay for the newbies free packs. Once a month mail them to arejay. But the one who bid and won, gets the seeds up for bid and usually I add a surprise seed pack(or something) to the ones I send them. They get what they want and the newbies get free seeds. It just adds back into arejays seed stash to keep plenty for the newbies.
It's for a good cause.
Ahhhhh I LIKE
Kim
You will always be the seed queen... The seed auction is just a new type of trading that mekos and cue-chik came up with. Mekos donates certain seeds and anyone who wants them can bid on them using seeds/plants instead of money. The mekos picks the winning bidder. Some of the seeds from the winning bidder are used to fund the newbie seed pool. The newbie seed pool is where people new to DG can request a starter packet of seeds and whoever is in charge of this one will send them a variety of starter seeds. Whatever happened to I'll trade ya marigolds for zinnias. LOL
I think we all cross posted...
I wish I had something from your trade list. I would love to start collecting ground orchids. lol
I get Cue to set the thread up for me since I'm not good at computer stuff. The auction was my idea and it just helps stock the seed stash for the newbies. People still ask this for that but this way is lots of fun and sometimes we have second place winners and just have fun. There are always extra seeds and just fun to see who is going to get them. You can keep them or trade them, no bid is too much or too small, no one knows which bid I will choose, just depends on what is low in stock and newbies need more of.
I might have to ask Cue to set up something for me! he he he That's a really good idea..I have 2 little babies now so I can't keep up with anything. Still a little confused but... So I would list all the seeds I want to give away? Then people will bid a seed item on it? If I like the bid I chose that? Then send all my seeds to who? Don't laugh at me Jan (budgie)! I'm coming around LMBO..
NO, I pick what I think others will want and decide what and how much to put up, the people who want the seeds tell me what they would be willing to trade me for them. FOR instance- If I put up seeds for the elephant foot yam- then someone who wants the seeds I have will see what they have that I might want and say I'll give you 10 seeds of this-5 seeds of this- 5 seeds of this and 1 plant of this- 1 plant of this and so on depending on how much they want what I have put up. Sometimes one will bid and another will try to top that bid and add something else and on and on until the deadline for bids and I pick the pot I thing is best. BUT I don't keep all the seeds I get for mine- I send them to arejay for the newbie packs. I only keep what I think I can use to get more seeds coming in for the newbies. Once a month I fill a plastic baggie for arejay and mail to her. The seeds I started out with, I ordered and paid for so they are fresh new seeds and have more than I'll ever use myself, so This way they can help the others get seeds they ordinarily wouldn't have. And it only costs postage and some seeds, to get a variety of seeds different than you had.
