I think I've got it...roots, that is..

I think I see...in fact, I know I see, two little green things growing in the pots with the leaves I planted! It's only been about 2-3 weeks, I think...I forgot to write down the date....the other 7, I don't see anything yet. Boy, I sure look all the time....which I know isn't good...but I am anxious to propogate what I have....and feel like a 'big girl' now..
I don't have a clue as what they are....just leaves my neighbors gave me.....

My violets themselves are not doing as well as last year.. in the window as the leaves on the trees have filled in.....so think I will have to move them under the grow lights..
...I will think about that tomorrow I sure appreciate all the help you all have given me..and read everybodys everyday...!

Bonbon,
If your plants have ears you are well on your way!! Look as often as you want LOL.....just don't be in a rush to divide them.

and keep them under the domes too. They will grow fast enough. I love when they are little though, so cute and tiny!

I didn't know that leaves could make babies in just 2 to 3 weeks! I've only planted one leaf and it took about 2 months and didn't even root for at least 2 to 3 weeks I don't think. What is the normal amount of time? Do they sometimes not even produce babies? My neighbor told me it would be a couple of months but maybe that was just the time for the leaf she gave me and other varieties take shorter or longer.

I might see ears sticking up in 6 weeks but don't dare separate for a couple of months or even 3 months........

bbon, how are they growing? If I remember to do it before I go to bed I'll post a picture of what my little mouse ears looked like and how they grew. I have photographed them about every week and it's now at least a month since I first saw the little mouse ears I think.

You were right....the green bits I saw were not ears, but NOW I have real ears! It's been about a month from the time I planted the first one...two have ears for sure...

Of course, I am now basking in the wonderful assortment Gessiegail sent me..that arrived yesterday. I am busy unpacking carefully and putting them on my table of grow lights ..I have to find something to mix the fertilizer in...later...

I am delighted...

I am shocked but glad to learn that Teazviolets doesn't even separate her babies for up to six months!!! But I am going to try and do a lot of what she does......at least try......

bbon I am also enjoying the marvelous assortment I received from Gail and that also arrived yesterday. We didn't have dinner because I had all the violets all over the counter with dirt everywhere. It's nice to hear that you have "real" mouse ears this time. I can't wait to see how these leaves do. I've only planted the one and it was so fascinating. I kept looking at it every day. Now that it has babies I still keep looking at it and it keeps adding more mouse ears. I hope I get at least 3 or 4 baby plants from it but I know only time will tell.

Babies from leaves vary a lot. Some put up ears right away and others seem to take forever.
It's very interesting to read what Teazviolets is doing.Sometimes if you seperate too soon you can lose a few plants and this would assure they are stronger.
On the other hand,I have walked into the plant /computer room and thought "oh,no,something has spilled" and what really happened is the poor babies have pushed theirselves right out of the little 3 ounce cups.I think they are saying time for me to grow up on my own LOL.I guess some of them are just more vigorous growers.

Annacanna..I know what you mean about dinner and dirt all over the counters......I was lucky...I live in a 55+ apartment....and management gave us dinner in the dining room tonite.......................so the dirt stayed on the COUNTERS in the kitchen until 8:00 p.m............
......but all my 'babies' from Gail are all doing ok...and the little 'mouse ears' I have are multiplying, too.........so tonite is a good nite! :) I am running out of room tho'.......and looking for where I can fit everything in under 'lights'.......when the 'ears' become babies..

As most of you know, I'm a late bloomer! (no pun intended!). But I did put a leaf down on Jan 9th of this year and watched it like a hawk for the first 3-4 months. then stopped, the leaf was still green but no ears for me :(- then, late June I looked again and BAMO, Ears! I will thrilled, I did not separate until mid aug. the plants are truly thriving well. I was surprised, I have rotted many leaves before this, now I have the same mother leaf back down again, she still looks good!

I have a lot of leaves down now, keep your fingers crossed!

And dirt on the kitchen counter, what kitchen what counter?? some days, just call it your potting shed! LOLOL

Bonnie, laughing at your mess, too. At least you have it confined to one area........my plant 'stuff' has taken over my kitchen to the point that it is hard to cook anymore........too bad...........so sad (LOL)

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Wish I could get away with that!! LOL.......I have to cook DH dinner every night.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am actually pretty good, Lynn, about cooking just for myself...........I at least try to eat healthy.
Tonight I had cheese Tortellini with Pesta sauce and cooked some Granny Smith apples with cinnamon over the stove.........not much, but enough for me.

I am too set in my ways to ever even think of remarrying. Been single since the only divorce 36 years ago and never wanted to remarry.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Well,Mike and I have married 38 years and that man loves to eat!! I guess I could tell him no dinner until all plants are potted......and he cleans up the mess LOL.
