Abutilon, Flowering Maple 'Tiger Eye'
Such a neat perspective! Do you have this plant in your garden? I got one a couple of months ago, and it's been steadily pumping out blooms...
Perfection!
I am not sure if I still have it alive. I actually bought 2 in 1 gallon cans and never planted them. The story of my life. I have a few abutilons struggling in 1 gallon cans but I am not sure which ones. I am forever buying them and never planting them. I really do not have room for any more but can't seem to resist. Here they flower all winter. The hummingbirds adore them. I can look out my window from my desk and can see blooms on a pink one from here.
Thanks Pirl!
I didn't have room for this one either...but had to get it anyhow. You know how it goes! I rationalized this purchase as additional winter food for the hummingbirds. I already had one other abutilon that's potted and rather sad-looking, so I stuck 'Tiger Eye' in the ground and will attempt to control its growth a bit. We shall see....
I do believe this particular one is very lanky in growth.
Happy New Year, Priya! I know you had a sorrowful ending this year but I hope this new year brings you much happiness and lots of love.
I'm hoping for primarily vertical growth, but who knows....
Thank you, and a Happy New Year to you too Kelley! Best wishes for a wonderful 2012 :-).
Ahh, I just asked sunnyg where she got this one, I see you have the perfect shot to go with the name Kell! It looks like an eye! I hope I can find this one.
Just ask whatever nursery that buys from Monterey Bay to order you one! http://montereybaynsy.com/plants.php
Sigh, we never did get that tour from my friend of Monterey Bay and he got so busy moving and then opening up his own nursery.
sunnyg said she got hers at Almaden Nursery so I will go check it out next time I go down.
Longs had it a lot. I wonder if they are still open.
I think they are gone. Remodeling was to begin last fall. :-(

They kept putting it off. I think it is still open. I was there maybe a month ago or so. Lots empty but they still kept getting plants in. I am hoping for it to be there in spring. Cheap spring annuals.
That is really odd!
