I know this isn't an astronomy forum but it's the closest I could find. I figure someone here might know stars as well as the moons ^_^
When I look to the South there is a really bright star. Any ideas what it might be? Could it be the space station? I think I remember reading it was visible to the naked eye...
Blinding bright star in the South...
It's Jupiter, it's been visible all summer. If you have a telescope or good binoculars, you can see four of its moons. The space station (when I've seen it, anyway) zooms accross the whole sky in a couple minutes.
This site has a really cool sky chart, you can set it for anywhere, anytime. Halfway down the page you'll see the "interactve observing tools". There's a satellite tracker, too.
