My 3 girls are now 18 weeks old and they don't miss their "brothers" at all. Their combs and wattles are showing up much more now. This is Emo, now known as Emily. She has the most developed comb/wattles. She has the BLRW coloring.
18 week old girls
Here's the group, scratching for tidbits among the weeds. Link is probably Blue Wyandotte. No lacing on her feathers. Emily is BLRW and Matilda may end up being white laced red or splash I guess. I hope to see eggs in 4-6 weeks. Y'all will be the first to hear about them...
Thanks so much to all of you for the help and encouragement. This forum is great!
OOOOOOPSie! I'm the one that swore Matilda was a roo aren't I?? LOL So sorry! Has it been 18 weeks already?????????
Wow..
They are beautiful..
Hi ZZ, I think both you and Catscan though she was a he. I am so glad you both were wrong (at least so far!) I remember someone on here said their rooster didn't crow until 20 weeks.
sorry i have a baby black cochin that is onlt just two months old and he is a crowing, he is still in our house with six little girls,as many chicks we have had never had one to crow so young. sounds so cute and he puts every thing in it to get his crow out they are bantums.
LOL cooksterann I had a 3 day old chick crow!! I know that is the cutest sound.. I have a tiny tiny Serama crowing now.. but if you're 10 feet away you can't hear it.. :)
I stay out there just to hear him.. soooo cute!
What pretty girls!
Thanks smedge. I think so, too. But I am partial. They were ticked at me today. It rained for 6 hours straight. 1.5 inches and their run was so wet I didn't let them out until 2 PM! I did give them scratch in the coop...
They are all pretty, but Emily is gorgeous! Look at those feathers! A painter could not paint something so exquisite.
