I use a heavy black rubber tub from a farm supply store, the kind used for feed or water. They are available in several sizes. They are virtually indestructible and will last for a very long time. I have some I have been using for over 15 years.

They had big black wash-tubs at the dollar store...and they worked out very well! I also used the dollar store black waste paper cans (they were also rubbery plastic) and planted my tall underwater plants in them (cannas, elephant ears, umbrella palm)
:) CHEAP!

I use the rubber tubs from Tractor Supply company. Wear like iron!

dollar store-any plastic container - if it doesn't hold up a few years I toss it and get a new one. I seem to transplant lillies every year maybe my lotus will be the same.

BTW: I started a bog with most of my lotus' in it. I used a discarded piece of pond liner that I got from my favorite garden center and filled it will cotton burr compost. I put the lotus on top of the water and they rooted themselves after about 2-3 weeks (once the weather got warm they really started to grow fast). This year it won't look perfect but hopefully next year it will be great!!

I purchased the thing like my DH drains oil into from walmart. It is black and round and has a handle and a spout, both which help with lifting if I need to move it. I cut the top out with a small saw and sanded it down. Works great for me.
