Hi folks,
Went and had dinner with the parents tonight.
Pop says this is a honeysuckle but didn't know for sure. He has quite a few plants he wants gone, actually he wants the whole yard gone. He doesn't want to mess with anything anymore so looks like I'll be ripping his yard apart.
It was growing like a vine up the side of his garage five foot. I only grabbed the tip of it as I didn't have my camera with me. Does anyone know if this is a honeysuckle and what type. There were no flowers on it as it was in a ton of weeds and climbing the wall to escape.
Thanks again.
Joel.
EDIT: I searched the plantfiles and the web but I can't find any suckle with this type of leaf.
EDIT again: While I'm on here....
Has anybody done that lasagna gardening thing. One question I was wondering about is if you are building up (making) good soil on top of paper or cardboard, what about the soil underneath all that. Will you be enriching that also or is everything benificial you do on top of all the base you laid down.

ants
Thank you Ants,
Yes you are right. I see a picture in that link you gave that is identical to the leaves of this.
I also read the 70 or so comments or ratings on it. Wow better be carfull where I put this. I wonder if it is a zone thing. This has been at my Father's for many many years and it is only five ft high and not spreading or invasive like they all are saying.
I know he has not touched or watered it for at least 12 years.
Thanks again Ants.
Joel.
You are welcome. I know this plant so well because I have been pulling it up for almost 9 years now. It is supposed to be native here were I am at. But it is VERY invasive. I am sure I have pulled up thousands of them & they keep coming back. They are pretty & the hummingbirds love them, but they will kill mature trees & come up through concrete & every other thing you have read bad about them by now. If you look inside a seedpod they have like a gazillion seeds in them & they also spread by runners & roots. If you try to pull them up, they either break (certain times of the year) or are just too hard to pull at all. I think they are hardy to zone 3. I believe the more mature the plant, the more it spreads out of control. I have also noticed that at the base of every plant I find is some kind of spider (same kind at the base of each plant). Also, after they get flowers & pods, I have noticed (on every one of them) very tiny black ants. Don't know what that means. Just my observations.
ants
Joel I have mine on an arbor....and from what "ants" say's I think I'll be pulling it up to as I have runners all along the house growing up it! I had ants this year to on mine...first year I've seen them on there and I've had it 5+ years or so...got rid of them quickly! The only bother to me with it is,is that the flowers drop, drop ,drop all over the place as I have a side walk way where the arbor is... here is a pic showing it on the arbor as well as growing up the house!
Delane
Thanks Ants & Delane.
I think I will put them out by the road or at least 70 ft from the house. I have five of them.
To get these lines off my house I asked Consumers Power if I bought the piping & did the work digging the trench how much would it be to go underground with my power for 70 ft.
They told me $6,200.
If their going to bone me like that I think I'll plant these five I have on their power poles to piss them off.
Thanks guys.
Any idea on the other question about lasagna gardens. I think I may try that method on a new bed I'm making for next year but was wondering about beds already in existance.
