Anyone that grows this vine: if you can tell me how you overwinter it, would be most appreciated.
Corkscrew vine
I cut mine back and bring it in for winter. It should be hosed off and sprayed for insects first and isolated from other plants until you are sure it is clean. It probably will need spraying during the winter and a good wash in the shower helps too. I keep mine in a big pot all summer so I don't have to change the soil or dig it up. If you start acclimating it to indoor temps before it gets too cool at nights in your area, it helps it adjust and maybe not lose all its leaves. Water less and don't fertilise until new growth starts in spring.
I am not in the north-east, but maybe this is all you're going to get, unless someone else comes along. Good luck.
I kept one potted indoors all one winter, didn't look the greatest until the next spring/summer, but it survived, sounds like echoes is right.
I didn't keep it after that because it didn't bloom until late, and didn't start until late because of our very cool indoor temps.
Come to think of it, I don't think I'll be taking mine in again this winter. For the little late bloom I get to see a few times, it isn't worth it. I'm sure we won't see any bloom this year, it's been a cool summer here too.
You would probably want to bring it in before frost, and mine was not so big the year I brought it in. I didn't do anything special, kept in in a south facing window, watered a few times only. We keep our house very cool in winter, so anything that manages to survive that is pretty good. The next year, when I emptied the pot it was in there were a lot of tuberous roots that I thought about saving, but I never did, left them in the garage to forget about.
