DeeS

Hamilton, OH

DeeS
yes X candida is very Frangrant, I have to find the Pic, where the whole side yard is full of Blooming Brugs, all you have to do is sit out there at night, the yard all of it, smells wonderful right now, I hope I have one more big flush before I have to take them in

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I bet that is a beautiful sight, and wonderful to the nostrils!..lol Makes me really want to come and sit a spell( and pick up those Frosty Pinks lol)! Please do post that pic, if you find it! How do you take care of yours in the winter?
DeeS

Hamilton, OH

DeeS

I keep mine in my basement, it's set up like a greenhouse, 4 grow lights, I also have a 6X8 little greenhouse, I don't use it during the winter months, just at the end of the season, to get them all in, then again the end of April, you're in the same zone as me, it would cost two much to heat it

I just took this tonight, we'll see how it looks

Those are sooooooooo pretty!!! Makes me feel all warm and guushy...lol...I am gonna have more brugs next year if it kills me...lol I have already started buying up big pots(lots of sales, right now). The one that I do have is planted in the ground, and one storm took out one branch, and about a week ago, we had another bad storm, that almost split it in two. Thanks goodness, there are still blooms on whats left of it! I want to be able to move them around next summer if a storm is coming. I was born a Buckeye, and lived in Ohio most of my life. I still haven't figured out how I settled in the state that is #7 for number of tornados, but I love it here..lol
DeeS

Hamilton, OH

DeeS
good morning, you were born in Ohio, I wish you still lived here, but I can still send you clippings, so it doesn't have to kill you to get more Brugs, the good thing & the bad thing about Frosty pink, sometimes the stalk is easy to break in a storm, but the good news, they are so easy to root, last fall, I took clippings, & everyone of them rooted, that's why I have so many extra, the hardest thing about Brugs is deciding what's your favorites, there are sooo many of them & there is always a new one that you just have to have

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth, I would love cuttings of your Frosty pink. When the time comes, just let me know, and I will see if I can come up with something to swap ya, or I' can send postage...whichever you prefer.Thank's for the offer.
Dee

I have to make sure, you have more than just a couple Brugs, the time is the end of September, that's when I am digging them up. I have too many to wait till the last minute, I could leave them in the ground until mid October, but then I would have to work my butt off to get them ready to go in the basement, I went down there today & swept & Bleached
the floor getting it ready, I don't wait till the last minute on anything, my Christmas shopping will be done Sept. 15th, I have to go shopping Black Friday for the followering year, please don't think I am bragging, it's just that I have learned
over the years, to plan ahead, you don't have to worry about trading me anything, I have more than enough Brugs for both of us, just let me know what are your favorites are? we already know, you're getting Frosty pink & plenty of them

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Eliabeth, I envy you, being so organized. I try, I really do, but it doesn't always work out for me...lol..
I love Black Friday! My 3 grown daughters and I go every year. Love racing for those bargains!
As to which ones are my favorites...it's which ever one I'm looking at, at the moment!..lol..At first, I was thinking that I'd like to have a pink one, a peach one, a white one, and a yellow one, but as you said, there are so many and each one is just a little different, and they are all so beautiful! So....which ever ones that you choose to send, I will be very, very happy with...really, whatever is easy for you. If you can give me an idea of the cost of postage, somtime before you ship, I will send it asap.
Is there such a thing as the happy brug dance, cause I feel my toes starting to twitch.haha.Thanks, again...Dee

Hamilton, OH

DeeS
girl you just have made my day, LOL for real, I have 3 grown daughter's also, there is such a thing as a happy Brug dance, have you heard the saying, the mother of invention neccessity, well it's just that, I started saving in june for my Kids/grandkids anyway it worked so well I just kept moving up the date, so now it's September instead of October, that way I have all the money I would have to spend in October for Black Friday, as for postage, no problem, just pass it on
like pay it forward, you're a newbie, we oldies have to help newbies, plus I have a lot that need a home, just be good to them, send me your addy, about the 15th of September, you can Dmail it too me

I love the brug pics, but must admit, that you are right ! That grandbaby of yours is beautiful! Look at those curls! I just want to squeeze him!..lol How old is he? My husband and I have 11 grandkids between us ranging from 19 down to 6. Aren't they wonderful?
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
he will be 2yrs old Dec, 18th, WOW you have 11, yes they are wonderful, I bet the Holidays are great at your house
the Brugs, I am trying to air layer, I have some really pretty doubles, when I tried to post them I couldn't find, I need to try harder, there are a couple of them that are big enough to take clippings, I will be doing that the end of Sept. that way they will travel well, it won't be too hot or cold, do you have a lot of room?
Elizabeth

I won't have any grandchildren, but I LOVE seeing everyone else's!
Keep those pics coming!

Hamilton, OH

Hi Liz
Thanks, I am glad you like him, but he's not spoiled

Sumpin tells me that boy's rotten. I know if he was ours, he would be.I'm sure he is everybody in the family's baby.I bet all the other kids lug him around, as well, as grandma and grandpa.
Elizabeth...Liz ask to see pics of the grandkids...lol...Do you think she knows what she's doin?...lol..Let me go see if I can find a few..lol
Did you mean ...do I have a lot of room inside, or out? When it comes to brugs...YES, I do....I have a spare bedroom, that will be converted to a grow room, this fall, complete with gro lights. I have a dining room, that we never eat in, and a second bathroom, that we never use the tub in....last year we put heavy duty plywood over the old tub, and set up a grow light stand on top of it...that was one of hubby's best ideas ever...lol as far as outside..I don't have anything growing outside the chain link fence out back, and I would love to have it lined with brugs...hehe. I also have a small basement that is great for wintering over dormant plants. That where the geraniums, lantana, and tropicals bulbs go...lol
Now let me go look for pics of some grandkids...you don't mind if I post a few of my favorites on your thread do ya Eliabeth?
Dee

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Liz!
And thank you, Elizabeth!Don't work too hard, because I think I could root them, if you have to send un-rooted cutting. I am so excited, to adding more brugs! I just think they are beautiful.I am planning to used one light stand for all the brug cuttings.
The brug that I have is getting ready to bloom. The bloom is dropping down, and has a pale yellow cast, right now. I'm anxious to see what color she turns out to be. I need to go see who sent me that cutting. I'm sure that she knew that she was sharing her addiction, and that I would be hooked forever..lol..
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
LOL, you need to be hooked, so I can share with you, unrooted cuttings, hmmm, I can do that next week, I am cleaning up
my tiny yard, I am trying to get a tree look on mine, so all those side shoots, are cuttings, dmail me your addy, while it's still warm, I get paid on Thursday, so the following Monday I can send you some cuttings, get you some peat moss & peroxide, I have found that's the best way to root them
