My first Symphony
More Mid August blooms
nice!
Oh, Dee, they are all sooooo pretty. Chariots of Fire has such fantastic color variation....just beautiful. Symphony is gorgeous too & I love anything pink. How long have you been collecting Hibs & how many do you have? Thanks for sharing.
Judy
Dee, these are all beautiful flowers and ones I would love to have in my garden, but Symphony strikes a cord for me. Love the soft colors and the pronounced ruffled edges.
Tussee
know what dee, some of these are not how they were pictured at all. I love your Chariots, can't wait till I get a bloom on mine. I love all of these dee and now I've added Symphony to my want list. Maybe come spring I can find & afford her. Can anyone tell me about rooting a cutting, best way?
I know...my Pocahontas is yellow and my Chariots of Fire is a lot lighter too...not what I expected either but then again, we know that temperatures affect bloom color and that first blooms are not indicative of what later blooms will look like.
Symphony was a Tried and True purchase. They will probably have them again but if any of you want to wait for cuttings put this one on your list :-)
Wow such pretty ones! Enjoyed the show. I also love the colors of Chariots of Fire and pinks are always a favorite of mine.
Patty
Nice Dee....
" Symphony" is a real stand out. Thanks for sharing..
Nice blooms Dee. I've been getting some different than usual colored blooms as of late also. Pocahontas has been blooming a bit light here also as of late.
Jon
Hey Jon, been wondering about you. Missed your pics. I'm really getting mercenary with cutting those over grown Hibs back....thanks to you. Even cut off loads of blooms today.
The 1st ones I cut back are so lush & blooming now so that has helped me decide to do more. Beginning to feel like Edward Sissorshand!
Hi Dee, your plants look really good. I should have done a "before & after picture" on my Hibs. Have some more to whack down to size but got the worst of them done already.
Took about 2/3rds off today & that may be a lot to do at one time but they were 6' or taller.
Learning a lot here.
Judy
Yeah, I definitely need to whack the ones in the ground out back. I pruned them back in April but I don't think I pruned them down enough. They're all about 5-6 ft tall also.
Jon, does it hurt if you take 2/3rds off at a time? Already done it but just thought I would ask. Think I have 5 more to go but I've saved the favorites for last.
Judy
I don't think it hurts Judy. The ones in the photo I posted above had at least half pruned off. They were getting so "leggy" that removing less than half would have still given them the appearance of being 'leggy" to some extent. I used to prune a branch here and there, but that doesn't correct the appearance of the entire plant.
That was my opinion, Jon, & after taking about half off they still looked leggy so I thought, "What the heck" & kept whacking. Didn't prune the 1st ones that much so will do them again before they go in the GH. Thanks again.
Judy
Hi dee, sorry it took so long to compliment your gorgeous hibs but I did see them and I think they are just gorgeous, love that "Chariot Of Fire" and that "Pocahontas", got any more of these beauties you can show us.
